Welcome to ISDS

The Institute for Social Development Studies (ISDS) is a Vietnamese non-profit, non-governmental organization registered under the Vietnam Union of Science and Technology Association (VUSTA). The Institute was established on May 27th 2002 by the Decision 468/TC-LHH of VUSTA. It enjoys a national reputation based on the quality of its work and its commitment to apply academic knowledge to address national challenges – to inform as well as to influence. ISDS’ vision of Vietnam is to be a country in which poverty is eliminated, the voices of all people are heard, and rights-based social justice prevails.

A series of workshops on “Understanding and tackling with stigma and discrimination related to people with disabilities”.

In 2011, Institute for Social Development Studies (ISDS), coordinating with the Institute for Public Opinion Research (IPOR) and the Central Vietnam Fatherland Front organized a series of workshops to disseminate the toolkit for action entitled "Reducing stigma and discrimination towards people with disabilities" from the Central level down to the local ones.

"Transnational marriage migration of Vietnamese women in Asia: Toward a multi-dimensional view"

On July 1st 2011 in Hanoi, Institute for Social Development Studies (ISDS) and University of Western Ontario jointly organized the workshop entitled “Transnational marriage migration of Vietnamese women in Asia: Toward a multi-dimensional view” in order to disseminate results of a series of quantitative and qualitative studies on transnational marriage migration in both sending and receiving sites. The workshop is the concluding activity of a four-year research project “Transnational migration of Vietnamese women in Asia” under a generous grant provided by the International Development Research Centre of Canada (IDRC).

The first National Symposium titled ‘Negotiating sexualities in moving spaces’ in Vietnam

To promote research, training, intervention and a positive view towards sexuality in Viet Nam and to encourage the realization and protection of people’s sexual rights, the Institute for Social Development Studies (ISDS) in the collaboration with the Center for Creative Initiatives in Health and Population (CCIHP) will host the first National Symposium titled ‘Negotiating sexualities in moving spaces’ in Vietnam.
